A method for directly computing the plastic modulus, and slopes of the plastic potential and yield surfaces was developed and applied to a uniformly graded sand. The method requires drained triaxial experiments under a constant mean effective stress subjected to small undrained perturbations at regular intervals. Using the incremental formulation of plasticity theory, the plastic modulus and slope of the yield surface is computed from measurements at points along the stress path where loading transitioned from drained to undrained. The proposed technique can map conventional isotropic or kinematic yield and plastic potential surfaces and may be used to develop new and more accurate elastoplastic constitutive models. To enable research verification and data reuse, the data, visualization codes, and corresponding documentation were curated and published on DesignSafe Cyber Infrastructure.
