NEET: Nuclear Energy Education and Training at UMass Lowell

There are 71 civil nuclear power plants under construction worldwide. As many as 60 International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Member States have announced plans to adopt or increase the share of their nuclear power. The University of Massachusetts Lowell in collaboration with CB&I developed an eight-week intensive Nuclear Energy Education and Training (NEET) program focused on nuclear reactor technology and nuclear power engineering. The program is in response to the need for such specialized courses for domestic and international students to support the global nuclear work force. The program delivers a robust nuclear energy curriculum and includes contemporary topics related to the sustainable use of nuclear energy. In this paper we describe the major elements of this program.
