摘要

In the last decade, EVAR has been increasingly performed to treat AAA patients as it can reduce hemodynamic shifts as well as the likelihood of inflammatory response, compared to other surgical alternatives. However, an implanted SG is associated with a lifetime risk of rupture because most patients will live for years after EVAR. Therefore, there has been an increasing trend to minimize EVAR complications by improving the stent designs and configurations, in addition to the use of new graft material. This work attempts to identify a possible relationship between hydrodynamic forces and endoleak to provide new thoughts for SG improvement from engineering perspectives. The analysis paradigm demonstrated in this study can also be used for the designs of other implanted devices when they are in contact with blood.
