In this study, the corrosion and tribocorrosion behaviour of Ni-P electroless coatings deposited on steel specimens has been studied in 3.5% NaCI solutions. High phosphorus Ni-P coating with 10-12 wt% P via electroless plating process has been plated on mild carbon steel substrate. Samples have been heat treated in 200, 400 and 600°C. The electrochemical behavior of the coated steel samples in a 3.5 wt.% NaCI solution was investigated by the potentiodynamic polarization measurements and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS).Tribocorrosion behaviour of heat treated and as plated Ni-P electroless coating sliding against alumina at 10N were investigated by using a combined reciprocating wear tester and an electrochemical cell. Scanning electron microscopy, EDS analysis, X-ray diffraction and XPS analysis were employed to study coating characteristics. The effects of heat treatment temperature on tribocorrosion behavior is evaluated by considering the structural changes induced by the heat treatment process.
