摘要

Broyden’s method, a generalized-secant method for root-finding, was recentlyadded as an option in the STK/Astrogator maneuver planning and trajectorydesign software module. The software previously used a Newton-Raphson approachwith numerical partials to solve shooting problems. In this paper, thetwo methods are compared for a wide variety of problems, includingstationkeeping, orbit transfers, and interplanetary trajectories. For most usecases,Broyden’s method has a faster performance than Newton-Raphson.
