Promoting Intrinsic Motivation in College English Learners

Intrinsic motivation is an essential ability that language learners must possess in a learner — centered classroom.The paper discusses the necessity of promoting the intrinsic motivation in English language teaching and suggests some means of implementing learner autonomy in language teaching.It is hoped that more concern and efforts will be put in cultivating and reinforcing learners' intrinsic motivation so as to enable them to be independent and autonomous in their English learning,improving their language learning efficiency to achieve the best English learning effect and even benefit them for a life long time.
