The paper reports on experimental studies of intense plasma streams emitted from an RPI-IBIS injector or a PF-1000 facility, as well as plasmas produced during interaction of such streams with different solid targets. Measurements were performed mainly by means of time-integrated and time-resolved optical spectroscopy. Additionally a mass- and energy-analysis of ions was carried out with pinhole cameras and Thomson-spectrometers. In the RPI-IBIS experiment attention was paid to spectral lines of tungsten-ions, and to analysis of energy spectra of primary protons or deuterons. In the PF-1000 experiment particular attention was paid to intense deuterium Balmer lines and carbon spectral lines originating from electrodes and composed C-Cu targets. Estimates of plasma temperature (T_e) and concentration (n_e) are also presented.
