The results show the importance of the out-of-plane velocity measured caused by interaction between the three confined jets. For the first time all 3 velocity components have been obtained on the central plane, which enables the visualization of 3D flow structures. Symmetry breaking was observed as a non-zero W-velocity on the Z = 0 plane throughout the data field. Also, all RNS and RSS plots have peak values in the leaflet near-wakes. In addition, low U-vclocity regions on the leaflet interiors act to contract the central jet and correspond to a peaks in RNS. The data arc an initial SPIV investigation into steady BiMHV fluid mechanics. The use of this datasct to aid in fundamental understanding of complex flows, and for CFD validation purposes may lead to improved MHV design and reduced patient complications in the future.
