Study on Blasting Vibration Effects on Existing Buildings of Baishan Pumped Storage Station

Beishan pumped storage station is located among several existing important buildings, such as main dam, the first and second-stage powerhouse, switch-station and high voltage lines etc. And its construction schedule was urgent. Based on analyzing the vibration mechanism of the buildings and adopting with explosive loading structure and priming network, a series of blasting vibration tests were carried out at traffic cavity, underground powerhouse, water conveying tunnel, washing pool behind main dam and so on, some of which were carried out on the condition of the powerplants running and corporating into the network. The permission vertical velocity index of master control room and powerplant's protection screens was increased from 0.50cm/s to 1.00cm/s, which greatly boosted the construction efficiency. Meanwhile, an on-line blasting vibration monitoring system was established, and run normally in more than 3 months,and abnormal sign was not found on the main monitor indicators of main dam, the powerplants run safely too.
