The study explores both independent and joint effects of emotional intelligence (EI),Machiavellianism,and emotional labor (EL) on Chinese civil servants' performance,including task executive and Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB). Analyzing 361 civil servants and results show that emotional intelligence counts for variance of both task performance and OCB; emotional labor enhances EI-task performance relationship but has no impact on EI-OCB relationship or Machiavellianism-performance relationship. Machiavellianism has no direct effect on either task performances or OCB. It decreases EI-task performance relationship,while has no effect on EI-OCB relationship. Corresponding implications of the results are discussed.
