On modelling reliability properties in descriptor form

The approach presented here extends conventional reliability modelling by integrating it into a control engineering concept. The objective is to combine control and reliability aspects in a joined model by using descriptor form, thus realising reliability-adaptive system operation. The approach allows the application of individual system operation, the optimisation of derating components, the estimation of preventive maintenance rates, adaptive reconfiguration strategies, and many other realisations. The approach shows, how to forge links between control and reliability theory.
