Biomedical engineering is an exciting field that demands the skills of many engineering disciplines. While the demand for biomedical engineers is greatly increasing, the awareness of the field may not be increasing at the same rate. This study, which included an EMG controlled robotic arm, was shown to motivate pre-college students to pursue biomedical engineering careers. This research may lead to a tutorial that can be used on the high school level as a lab activity, as well as, a tool for recruiting biomedical engineering students at the university level.
