The risk of psychological maladjustment in the population involved in the Chernobyl disaster

Medical consequences of the Chernobyl disaster for the population involved have not yet been fully detected and investigated. It has been established that radiation had caused an increasing rate of thyroid cancer in persons that had been children at the moment of disaster, and it also caused higher rate of leukoses in rescue workers. Rescue workers of 1986 have a higher risk for developing oncological diseases.
