Nine mile hed sedimentation study

The Nine Mile Hydroelectric Development is a 90-year old facility located on the Spokane River at Nine Mile, Washington that has been owned and operated by Washington Water Power (WWP) since 1925. The pool behind the dam has been infilling slowly with sediment over the last 90 years. Notable morphologic changes have occurred near the dam over the last 20 - 30 years, with new shoals and islands forming. Although sediment build-up in the Nine Mile forebay has been experienced over the life of the project, it has only been in the last few years that this build-up has impacted the operation of the plant.
