Responding to Aesthetic Values at Shoshone Falls

Aesthetics are a key issue in the FERC relicensing of Idaho Power's historic 12.5 mW power plant at Shoshone Falls, a 212 foot high waterfall located in the Snake River Canyon in south-central Idaho. This paper briefly reviews the innovative aesthetic analysis procedures that Environmental Vision developed and applied to assist the Idaho Power Company in evaluating the issues and identifying a minimum flow regime and site improvements that respond to public and agency concerns.
