Carbon nanofibers (CNFs) are excellent candidates for de-nitrification (DeNOx) using as catalysts or catalyst supports. In this study, CNFs were fabricated by the combination of electrospinning polyacrylonitrile (PAN) in N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) solutions and post thermal treatment. Then the CNFs were activated with steam to obtain activated carbon nanofibers (ACNFs). The samples were characterized by N2 adsorption, scanning electron microscope (SEM) and activity tests. The results showed that micropores of ACNFs were beneficial to the capture of NOx, especially for NO, and the breakthrough time of NOx was prolonged with the increase of pore volume. The breakthrough time for as-produced different ACNFs was 6h, 6h, 5h, 4h, respectively.
