They're Coming! Combining Teams and Cultures

Your technical communication future will take place against a backdrop of corporate change. Whether you're a permanent employee or a contractor, the companies where you work will evolve through mergers, acquisitions, and realignments. My company, Extreme Networks, anticipated and handled the upheaval that resulted from three major mergers within a year. Leading a cross-corporate team that successfully integrated three separate DITA content bases into a single system, I experienced the dynamics of combining diverse teams, workflows, and tool sets. With my management team, I also worked to align corporate cultures, preserving the best aspects of each company while being sensitive to employees' concerns and fears. Our approach emphasized empathetic listening and clear communication.
