In this paper, we consider a new approach for radar target characterization using the recently-proposed spatial singularity expansion method (S-SEM) and compare it with traditional temporal (transient) singularity expansion method (T-SEM). This study is performed by analyzing measured time-domain radiated field and the frequency-domain antenna current Green's function (ACGF) of a thin-wire antenna, respectively. The objective here is to compare the complex poles of the two approaches using simulation and measurement verification. Also, we anticipate that this preliminary study will facilitate developing a general mathematical formulation of the relation between spatial and transient SEMs, which remains an open problem.
