The association between man and machines has become a significant topic for the robotic community as it can speculates the use of robots. Today humanoid robots are being exhibited to perform various task as a personal assistant of a human. To be an associate, a robot needs to interact with human as a human. For this reason robot needs to understand the human gender including facial expression, facial gesture in real time. The proposed system mainly consists of three modules: face detection, facial expression recognition and movement of robot. The first module aims to perceive the user's face from the image captured from a live video through a series of steps. While the second module to identify the detected face and to recognize the facial expressions like happiness, sadness, surprise, anger. Finally, the detected facial expressions are used for controlling the movement of robot. The proposed system utilized Viola Jones Algorithm in detecting faces from a given image. This system can be used for security purpose and to recognize and track the face.
