Evaluation on the effect of space factor of motor on torque characteristics

In this paper, we evaluate an effect of space factor of motor core on torque characteristics by using an interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM). 2-D magnetic field analysis changing the space factor of motor cores and current phase angle is carried out to clarify the effect of space factor. The results show that torque has a peak value in 76% space factor even if current phase angle is changed.
