DYNAMIC TORQUE CHARACTERISTICS OF PHASE CONVERTER OPERATED MOTORS

The torque characteristics of three-phase motors operated on phase converters are different from those characteristics obtained when three-phase motors are operated on three-phase power.nData are presented on the dynamic torque characteristics of a motor operated on three-phase power and on a rotary-type phase converter. The normal motor starting, pullup, and breakdown torques are reduced when the motor is operated on the phase converter.nThe instrumentation used to plot the dynamic motor characteristics is also described.
