Understanding Usage of Bring Your Own Device (BYOD): A Complex Adaptive Systems Perspective

Since the term of Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) has become a growing trend in businesses due to the rapid increase in personal smart devices, such as smartphones and tablets, IS scholars have extensively studied on BYOD as a specific construct either from enterprise's perspective or employee's perspective. However, these researches only focus on discrete aspects of BYOD usage and not provide a holistic and theoretical understanding of the phenomenon of BYOD usage. We attempt to explore a deeper understanding of the BYOD usage and draw Complex Adaptive Systems (CAS) as a theoretical lens to explore a better understanding of BYOD usage.
