Numerical analysis of the casting process of H282 alloy

This paper is focused on application of numerical analysis for estimation of lacking data of thermophvsical properties of commercial wrought HA YNES 282 alloy in liquid and semi-solid states up to 1500°C. For this purpose, the reverse problem solution was applied using both the results from castability trials with HA YNES~®282 alloy via spiral fluidity tests and numerical simulation with MagmaSoft (v5.2) software. The results obtained were verified by means of detailed structural characterization of real castings. Comparison between virtual and real castings evidenced a good agreement, particularly for the distribution of porosity and the presence of surface defects.
