Servicing of traffic information using Smartphone Application (hereinafter "Apps") is now common in Korea. This service differs from the existing public ITS service that is provided through VMS from the information collected by the detectors installed separately. The method of using Apps is a good alternative that may overcome problems of the existing ITS (high construction cost). In this regard, the present study is aimed at a comparison of the accuracy between the speed of collection using the existing public ITS method (JEJU Advanced Transportation Management System Project) and that using Apps As result of analysis, the method of using Apps was found to be of high accuracy in the urban section where there is a number of Smartphone users (traffic demand), but low accuracy in the suburb section other than urban section. Therefore, the method of enhancing the accuracy through the fusion of information of suburban bus speed collected from the JEJU BIS was suggested.
