Traditional control of tower crane is mainly accomplished by PLC. As complex anti-sway collision algorithms and remote upgrading proposed, the traditional controller can not meet these requirements. This paper introduces a novel type of tower crane controller constructed mainly by DSP28335, and details how the controller hardware designed and software accomplished. For anti-collision requirement, the paper gives specific algorithm and the theory of instructions. At the same time, remote upgrading can be accomplished by GPRS. Experimental results show that the new controller was fully realized the function of the original PLC controller. Not only can it realize the action required of the tower crane safely and stably, but also it can execute anti-collision algorithms effectively. After upgrading, the controller can run safely and stably.
