The tower crane has a rotating base platform (5) mounted on the foundations, and fitted with winches. A frame platform (12) is secured to the base and has an offset hinge mounting for the boom (26) which is slung from a support frame (19). The tower sections (44) are raised by the boom to lock into a tower on the base platform. The frame platform, complete with boom, is then hauled up the tower complete with ballast weights etc. The whole tower rotates about the base with all the motor drive winches on the base. The frame platform has a recess to fit around the tower and is fitted with servo locks to lock onto the tower in any position. ADVANTAGE - Simple assembly, simple maintenance access, crane can be lowered in storms.
