The Use of RFID Seals in National Safeguards Inspection in Korea

A sealing system is used as a complementary measure in nuclear material accountancyverification. National inspections with seals in Korea were implemented for the first time in1998. KINAC developed a seal that combines an ABS resin body, with easily identifiabletamper indications, incorporating a commercial micro-transponder for tag identification. TheseRFID seals have been applied to equipment hatches, spent fuel transfer canal gates, missileshields at LWRs, spent fuel transfer campaign tools and interim spent fuel dry storages at OLRsfor national inspections.
