摘要

The free radical and inflammatory response to neurotrauma are major mediators of secondary injury. We designed a controlled release dexamethasone PVP system that sustained release over 72 hours. Compared to a single non-sustained release dose of dexamethasone, the polymer system reduced the activation of microglia, decreasing their secretion of inflammatory cytokines known to be deleterious to surrounding CNS neurons and glia.
