In order to investigate the influential factors of red-light running (RLR), this study was conducted using observational data collected at 7 signalized intersections in Harbin. Three random-effects negative binomial models were proposed to explore the shared and respective influential factors of three types of RLR. The results show that the shared factors are countdown timer, lane width, and hourly volume. Traffic police booth and RLR in the adjacent lane negatively influence intentional RLR at red onset, while green flash has positive effect on this behavior; all-red time, green flash, RLC, and vehicle type significantly impact unintentional RLR at red onset. All-red time, RLC, traffic police booth, and RLR in the adjacent lane negatively affect on RLR at red end. The findings from this research are helpful to conceive the countermeasures for deterring RLR, and thus enhance the traffic safety level at signalized intersections.
