The iridescent color on Morpho menelaus wings attributes to its multi-layer microstructures. The size of these structures is about several hundred nanometers which are ideal natural substrates for Surface-Enhanced Raman Scattering(SERS). In this article, Morpho menelaus wings are carbonized. After coated with Au and absorbed with trace 4-aminothiophenol(4-ATP), these substrates are directly analyzed with Raman spectrograph. The result shows that carbonized Morpho menelaus wings are cheap, easy-getting and convenient fabricated substrates for SERS analysis.
