In Bali Indonesia, art, culture, religion, and the tradition is a unity. Daily life of Balinese people is always related to their religion. In Bali there's always a religious ceremony or ritual taking place in one of many temples or tourism areas. In Balinese rituals, music always plays important part. The traditional music instrument played by Balinese is called gamelan. One of the most popular types of gamelan is called Gong Kebyar. The characteristic sound of gamelan is provided by metallophones bar (called Gangsa) which are percussion instruments consist of a row of metal bar-keys, suspended above bamboo resonators. Each key gives a specific pitch when struck using wooden hammer-like mallets. In this research, what kind of standard that Balinese Gamelan used to determine the position of the holes for hanging the metal bars was investigated. The main idea was to find out if Balinese Gamelan unique standard agree with any of available international standards. The investigation was carried out by measuring three units of Gangsa that each consists of 10 metallophone bars. Each bar was measured for its length (L), width (w) and holes position from each ends (b). The surprising results were found. The position of the supporting holes was found at the distance of 0.242L from each end which is very close to the ASTM International Standard E 1876-01. The fundamental nodal point according to the ASTM standard is 0.224L, so that the average error between the Balinese standard with that of the ASTM standard is about 8%.
