In this work the results of evaluation of several photovoltaic encapsulant compositions based upon ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) and polyolefin (PO) sheets that have been studied for the resistance of potential induced degradation (PID) with crystalline silicon PV cells. PID sensitive cells have been laminated as one-cell mini-solar modules with various encapsulation products, and the degradation of mini-solar modules have been observed resulting from PID effects. Decrease of power is also induced due to deterioration of solar cell parameters such as series resistance R_s, saturation current I_s, etc. After 85 °C, 85 % RH, there is also evidence of series resistance increase in some dark areas of the EL images. In this study PO sheets show sufficient durability in terms of PID-resistant characteristic as material for encapsulation.
