In the project of reorganization and expansion of No. 317 National Highway in Li County, Sichuan Province of China, a section of proposed road gets through the front of Modui landslide, which leads tothe soil body of the front the slide unloading. This landslide lies on the steep clinoform. Dig face occurs and enlarges because of slide toe cuttingAt the same time, dig face provides space for landslide failure. Surface water such as rainfall, irrigation water softens the soil body and provides external power for landslide failure. While in the calculation of landslide stability, it is creep sliding in natural state, but it is possible to slide again in rainstorm state. The landslide is prone to whole sliding because of adverse factors such as rainstorm, aftershock, fluvial denudation and toe cutting. The landslide deformation is majorly local sleeking in front soil body and there is no trend of whole failure during 512 earthquake. The volume of the landslide is 7.5xl04m3, belonging to pull-behind medium sized landslide. The influence section is 240m in length. The highway construction has a strong impact on the landslide stability. It may cause landslide failure, endangering normal construction and following operation of building highway. As to the question, anti-slide pile siding wall, facing wall, backstroke scupper and cutoff, drains are used to make up comprehensive treatment. The treatment is advisable during the construction and the landslide is stable after building.
