A new technology was designed to manufacture SiC micro powder with a better quality. The reaction was carried out by reactant conducting electricity and generating heat without graphite core. Micro morphology and characteristics of the SiC products were studied with SEM, XPD and granulometer. The grain size of mature SiC crystals at the center of reaction zone is 9~11μm, while the grain size of external crystals is less than 5 μm. All of them are less than that manufactured by Acheson technology or with rice hull. XRD analysis showed that the crystal phase was mainly β-SiC.
