The development of an innovative ecophotonics/illumination engineering education program for grades 6-12

The National Optical Astronomy Observatory's Education and public Outreach Group has created pedagogically-sound science enrichments programa for grades 6-12 that embed both active and problem-based learning in the areas of eco-photonics and illumination engineering.Recently ,we have added film clips from the award winning film"The City Dark"as inttroductory material to our program materials.This feature documentary is about light pollution and the disappearing night sky.The use of the film clips helps students better visualize the growing problems associated with light pollution.
