The ever-increasing complexity of helicopter development programs requires non-traditional Systems Engineering (SE) process methods and tools to facilitate an efficient integration of diverse products, process and people. To address this increased complexity while delivering better value to our customers, Sikorsky utilizes Advanced Digital Collaboration Tools coupled with Integration Events conducted throughout the Project Life Cycle. The pre-planned integration events approach discussed in this paper improves the SE process implementation by increasing the probability of successful product verification and validation, while helping to avoid noncompliance issues. However, to fully realize the potential of the Advanced Digital Collaboration Tools and Integration Events requires a paradigm shift in enterprise process development. This shift necessitates the linking of management, implementation, and organizational commitments, and spans across the OEM, suppliers, partners, and customer/product user communities. The use of Enterprise Systems Engineering (ESE) methodologies in conjunction with advanced digital tools has the potential to dramatically decrease the overall helicopter life cycle cost.
