The ageing of a propellant containing dibuthylphthalate (DBP) as deterrent and of a propellant containing an alternative phthalate has been investigated. Infra-red microscopy and closed vessel tests show that the diffusion of the alternative phthalate during ageing is lower than the diffusion of DBP. Therefore, this propellant presents a greater ballistic stability.
