Early Orange Blossoming Phenology in Venezuela Central Area

The phenology of two canopies of early oranges (Hamlin and Criollo-Montero) on the rootstock Cleopatra and Citrumelo Swingle was characterized during 2000 - 2006. The experimental plot was located in Venezuela central zone (10° 06' LN 68° 36' L. W. , 650msl ). The phenological events described were budding and bloosoming. The climatical information was obtained from a mobile meteorological station located in the experimental plot. The two canopies presented two annual flows of budding with variable intensity and duration (10% to 33% and 2 to 3 months). It was evident a relative rest in May-June. The bloosoming occurred with higher intensity in February (Hamlin 49% and Criollo-Montero 40%)with irregular duration between canopies from one to three months. The temperatures in the bloosoming period were maximum of 30°Cand minimum of 16t, with accumulate precipitation previous March and November with annual fluctuation of 1.075mm (year 2002) and 1.504mm (year 2003). The day at beginning of bloosoming (DBB) fluctuated between 19 y 80 days from both rootstocks. The maximum intensity of bloosoming. (MIB) was between 14 and 29 days for Cleopatra and between 12 and 24 days for Citrumelo Swingle. The duration of bloosoming (DB) was for Cleopatra rootstock between 37 and 72 days while for Citrumelo Swingle rootstock until 55 days.
