A Study on Reservoir Operation for Desilting in the Chi-Chi Weir

摘要

The different operations influence the desiliting efficiency and capacity in thestorage area of reservoir during the flooding period. The Chi-Chi Weir constructed inthe Choshui River of Taiwan is used as a study area to estimate desiliting efficiencyof reservoir operation. The desiliting efficiency with different operations wasestimated by a two-dimensional model for alluvial river with movable bed to simulateflow in the storage area during flooding. The simulated results indicate that a bettereffect on desiliting can be obtained for the reservoir operation with opened northerngates in cooperation with closing the others.
