USING THE QFD APPROACH AS A SAFETY MANAGEMENT TOOL IN DAMENGINEERING

摘要

The aim of this paper is to show how QFD (Quality Function Deployment) can be used in dam engineering to determine their objectives on safety and to find out the initiatives to accomplish these objectives. QFD is a method for product planning and development. The product development team determines the customer needs and translates them into product attributes. For purpose of this study, the dimensions of QFD were modified for construction engineering. Customer needs and requirements are the objectives on safety, and the product attribute dimensions are defined as the initiatives for the accomplishment of these objectives. This method could easily be used by dam engineering professionals.
