During the last few years the use of pesticides for hop cultivation has changed considerably. New active agents are applied nowadays and may lead to residues in hops. In brewing trials the fate of the residues were traced throughout the whole process in a pilot brewery. Besides hop pellets with original pesticide residues additionally pellets spiked with active agents (at the maximum residue level) were used. Furthermore the chosen hopping rate was rather high to simulate a worst case scenario. Under these conditions some active agents can result in measurable residues at different steps during the brewing process and also in finished beer.
