Failure of multinational corporations to consider the strategic purpose of foreign-based SBUs and the cultural identities oftheir managers can result in decision making by the SBU manager in conflict with corporate goals and objectives. We proposeperformance measures and methods that incorporate consideration of alternative strategies and cultural identities.
