INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS FOR THE REHABILITATION OF A SMALL HYDRO POWER PLANT AT THE RIVER MUERZ IN AUSTRIA

The hydropower plant of the Victor-Kaplan Academy is a remarkable example of smallhydropower development with numerous innovative details. It will be located at the riverMürz in the province of Styria in Austria in the green heart of Europe. On the one handthis power plant shows the possibility of a greater energetic efficiency by reconstructionand utilization of an existing water-scheme. On the other hand it will be part of thefuture museum of the Victor-Kaplan Academy and therefore function as an ”exhibitionpower station” to draw particular attention to the utilisation of water power as arenewable source of energy.
