The method involves deepening a river section (6) for increasing a maximum flow cross section under simulation of a sealing element when the river section is connected with a river. An end side of another river section (5) is partitioned and water is pumped from the river section (5) for forming a water-free chamber (8). The river section (6) is connected with the river for producing an increased flow cross-section for transportation of water. An overflow channel (2) is constructed in the water free chamber.
