Load shedding is one of the challenging problems in deregulated power system. This paper reports on a study of load-shedding problem with locaitonal margin pricing (LMP). The concept of LMP is summarized first. The calculation method of LMP that used in this study is also presented. Then load shedding problem with LMP is formulated as an optimization problem. Besides saving the system in emergency state, the load shedding also seeks to obtain optimal results for LMP. Finally, the entire problem is solved by mathematical programming. This method is tested on a typical system.
