ris#p.539-545#AISI-P4 tool-steel was subjected to multiple-ass cold rolling, with thickness reductions varying from 10 to 55#. The rolled strips were then nitrocarburised at 570 deg C in cynaide-salt bath for 4, 5 hrs. (Tufftriding). Optical metallography and microhardness testing indicates an incremental tendency of the case depth with incresing degree of plastic deformation (i.e. thickness reduction). The maximum depth, up to 200 #mu# m, was obtained for the 55# of thickness reduction. The microhardness increased continuously reaching a value of 1280 H
