摘要

The expert system for design of a new type of machine element differs from the expert system for routine machine design. Two key characteristics of this expert system are formalized representation of the machine element and form pattern recognition. The expert system we have built for designing new types of quick fasteners under the theory of strata and constituent analysis can contribute to innovative design of new machine elements.
