Output Characteristics of Surface Emitting Laser Diodes with Short External Cavity

We describe novel vertical-cavity laser diodes with two-sided light output and study optical feedback from a short distance external reflector. We observe strong modulation in the output power with growing laser current or increasing external cavity length.
