The diesel engine is the dominant power train in commercial applications, and will continue to be in the future. A wide variety of solutions within engine, exhaust gas aftertreatment, air and injection systems have been developed to ensure compliance with emissions legislation such as US EPA 2010, EURO VI, JPNLT and US T4. Bosch common rail systems for commercial vehicles (CRSN) have been available on the market for 11 years. In 2009, the existing CRSN product portfolio has been extended to 2000 and 2200 bar injection pressures. This system is designed for medium-duty and heavy-duty applications, both on-highway and off-highway, and it is based on the existing 1800 bar plattform. Besides the higher injection pressure, this system features increased hydraulic efficiency in pressure generation and controlling the injection, making a direct contribution to reduce fuel consumption. To ensure that even greater requirements can be met, a system with an injection pressure of 2500 bar is now under development. The flexibility and modularity of key components ensure that the system is suitable for a wide scope of applications in both the on-highway and off-highway segments.
