Study on pronunciation errors in Japanese English reducing its intelligibility for native speakers of English

摘要

This study tries to automatically estimate the probability of each spoken word of Japanese English (JE) being perceived correctly by native speakers of American English (AE) and to clarify what kind of combinations of segmental, prosodic, and/or linguistic errors are more fatal to the correct recognition. Firstly, a listening experiment was done where 6 native speakers of AE were asked to transcribe 360 JE utterances.
